Hello League Members!
We are looking forward to another successful season! Men’s League is held on Tuesdays and Ladies League is on Wednesdays.
COURSES USED The courses are rotated weekly. If over 70 participants are expected on a league day, then a second course will be set up by 3pm with 4 prize holes (only to handle the overflow).
MARKERS The course will be set up with fully sanitized markers by 11am on the 9 holes selected. The markers will be picked up after 6pm or when the last group passes. If less than 20 participants are present due to weather, than only 4 prizes will count.
PRIZE VOUCHERS can be picked up over the following 2 weeks from winning date. If the prize is not claimed, the funds are returned to the prize pool. Look for weekly pop up treats for league members!
SCORING A web based scoring program allows us to display live scoring in our clubhouse. Each participant will receive a handicap. Prizes are handed out each week for a gross score and also for net scores (based upon your score, less handicap). There is a minimum of 6 hole prizes. Scoring is also based on a team format. Teams will compete in a season long round robin competition. Team scores are composed of the total of the teams standard scores. Winning teams receive 10 points, and in the event of a tie, each team receives 5 points. An additional point is awarded for each participant regardless of the outcome of the match as long as the team fields the minimum players required. Once scorecards are handed in, the Proshop will enter scores which will automatically be displayed on the TV and on the scoring website. Please visit golfscoring.net to see your scores or see Proshop for more details.
TEE TIMES can be throughout the day on League Day. The time is not restricted to the evening. Please keep in mind, if you’d like to be part of the marker prizes, you will need to have a tee time after 11am.
LEAGUE COSTS To enter the league, the cost is $20 per season. ($15 of which goes into the prize pool, the remaining $5 goes to scoring.) The Loyalty Card cost of $30 per season and allows for discounts to be applied. Green fees for 9 holes is $22. Cart is $13. To play an extra 9 holes on League Day is an extra $5 golf and $5 for cart.
TEE DECKS We ask an approaching group to allow at least a 50’ distance to the group on the tee.
50/50 DRAW will be available each week. Half of the 50/50 money goes to the winner and the balance goes into the prize pool.
END OF SEASON DINNER At the end of league season, we arrange to have a special dinner for the league groups. This day is scheduled on the same day as your actual league day and is announced late in the season.
ROOM SET UP FOR END OF SEASON DINNER Due to the Covid guidelines, six foot rectangular banquet tables with white linens are set with 2 chairs (6’ apart). This arrangement is for a twosome to sit & eat. Two extra chairs are available for that table and group to be your foursome (if the group is in the same bubble).
EXTRA PRIZES Keep your eye out for signage in the Proshop. Extra games, prizes & treats will pop up now and then!
SPONSOR Anyone wishing to sponsor a hole is welcome. A hole costs $250 per golf season. All sponsor fees (less the actual signage expense) goes to the prize pool. Thank you to those who have sponsored Leagues over the years. It really makes for a great season!
Due to the pandemic, leagues may continue to look different for 2021. This information lists the practices we found suitable for league set up and meal service in 2020. Of course, Ariss Valley will follow all Provincial guidelines so these practices may change with little notice. We will keep in close contact with golfers for any adjustments required.
Tip it up with Golf Tips~Alignment
When setting up to the golf ball you should always remember to attempt to have the golf club and ball line parallel with your body line. If you’re a right handed golfer and your body line is open to the left of the target, the golf ball will generally fade or slice to the right.
If the body line is closed to that of the target line, the golf ball will generally draw or hook from right to left. Best practice is always attempt to square your body line with the club and ball line.
Enjoy the great weather and thank you for playing Ariss Valley.
